Fresh Eyes on Old Sights

This year’s sojourn out to Joshua Tree National Park was taken with my sister-in-law, Miss Myrna. It was so much fun!! She had never been so the Joshua Trees and their unusual shape and the rock formations with their unique geology were all so new and fresh. Her excitement and wonder evoked that same sense of thrill of my first times to the park as well – I guess it was starting to feel like old hat for me. We took some photos of course…

These folded stacks of boulders are a result of volcanic activity. When the Magma rose from deep within the Earth it cooled and crystalized forming horizontal nad vertical formations. When it came in contact with groundwater it cooled and overtime weathering rounded its corners and defined the breaks and crack. Whew – hope I got that all correct!!
The verdant desert (from all our recent rain) and the jumbled rock (from a millenn ago).
The rocks were not the only show while we were out in JTNP. The cloud formations were mesmerizing as well.
These are Altocumulus clouds
If you go back to 2021 (I think) there is a picture of this same arch that I took one night with the stars shining through it.
And then we came home to this beautiful sunset!

I hope you enjoyed these. Hopefully I am not becoming too repetitive with the Jumbo Rocks of Joshua Tree National Park. I need to do some more work but will get some pics on here of the Joshua Trees themselves. Right now they are in bloom!
