Oh Ricky Nelson, such sweet words! Yes! I finally got together with my YYC Photo Walk friends and we physical distanced all over Reader’s Rock Park this week. It’s surprising that I have lived in Calgary for over 40 years and have never even heard of Reader’s Rock Park.
It is a beautiful hillside garden park owned by the city and is now a provincial historical site. It was built by William Ronald Reader, a horticulturalist and Calgary Parks Superintendent from 1913 to 1942. He used the garden to trial over 4,000 alpine plants from all of his travels. You can read more about it if you are interested by clicking on the link in the first paragraph.
This little park is jammed packed with beautiful rock pathways, lovely little creeks, trickling water falls, peaceful benches, flowers of every kind, unique bridges, a gazebo and even an historic home/restaurant/event space but it never seemed to be anything but tranquil and secluded.
Clearly, I took way too many pictures and these are only the tip of the iceberg. I am working with a new lens though and knew I was already having issues with sharp focus. You will see it in the images but I’m posing them anyway. Obviously, I need a lot more time with this lens.
Okay, well that was, as I said, WAY too many pictures but I hope you liked them and take some time to check out Reader’s Rock Park.
