We are used to the warm Chinook winds in Calgary but the Chinook Blast was a whole different story. This is the festival’s inaugural year and, in spite of COVID-19, they have done an amazing job. Not all of their programming could be showcased due to the virus but the Lighting Art shone throughout Stephen Avenue Mall from City Hall to 3rd Street and then down Barclay Mall for the month of February. I actually only made it down Stephen Avenue but that took me 2 1/2 hours as it was so am not disappointed and only a bit regretful. I even ran into a fellow NZ buddy out there taking in the show and hopefully he was able to get lots of great photos as well!
If you were unable to make it out to see some of the presentation here is a small taste of the colour and lights of a wonderful evening out and about in Calgary.
It is so nice to have a new winter festival for Calgarians. I miss Winterfest, which some of you know I was pretty involved in during its last few years. I got a real feeling of community while enjoying the lights and the fun spirit of my fellow Calgarians… something that has seemed a bit foreign over the past year.
Nicely seen and executed Susan.
It was great to run into you Sean!
