Rule breaking (sort of) on Day 2 worked for me though since when I looked out my cozy cabin window at first light I could see the eagles were back on the other side of the fairway. It was early… so no golfers yet and there were about six or eight eagles back checking out and breakfasting on the spent salmon. I decided to hit the cart paths and made my way down to the river’s edge (ish). (did you see my Day 1 post or my Mean Girls post?)
I want to note here briefly that the Chehalis and Harrison River are is a Wildlife Management Area created to protect and preserve the fish, wildlife and mudflats that “support critical wintering, migration and breeding habitats for salmon, trout, raptors, aquatic birds, amphibians, mammals and other wildlife.”
Viewing is restricted to specific areas and if you go I suggest you do a search as to where you are allowed to go and/or not allowed go and then respectfully follow all rules to the letter. Next year I hope to hire a boat tour guide to get some different angles and views of this amazing time in the salmon and eagle life cycle.
If you have just come first to this post of my excursion to the Bucket List: Eagle Gathering and have not seen Day 1 or Mean Girls posts, just click on the links to get to them.
