Those Sturdy Little Highland Ponies

When BD and I were driving around the Isle of Lewis and Harris we had to take many breaks. The roads are mostly one lane paths with many pull-outs to let oncoming cars go by. If you come up to a local on the road you are likely meeting the polite ones, who pull over to let you by when their pullout is closest. We didn’t know the rules and pulled over for almost all the cars we met. I have no idea who the ones were that barrelled through regardless of circumstances but of course they were there too.

On one such pull out I spotted these ponies in the distance and BD very kindly found a place for me to get out and get some pictures. Now, I’m not an expert and if someone corrects me on the breed I will be more grateful than not.

Apparently the Highland Pony cannot be over 14.5 hands and these guys look smaller than that to me. Hence my questioning on the correct breed.
Correct identification or not, isn’t she pretty!
They do look a bit wild, don’t they?
I have two of this one. He or she was very feisty!
It’s like this one just got a cut and colour and then went out in a wind!
No… please don’t go! They thought I had treats and when they found out it was a camera and not apples or carrots they left!

That’s it for these pretty little ponies.

Did you see my posts about the Highland Coos and the Oreo Cows? I’ve linked to them here, over their names
