Storm Watching in the City

Apparently these storms don’t happen often this far south on the island, once every two years or so. That’s what a fellow watcher told me. Go up island to Tofino or Ucluelet though and you can get two a day! It’s definitely on my list.

I was happily snapping pictures while BD was watching the watchers getting wet. There were many people out enjoying the majesty of the high winds and subsequent waves. Many seemed to be getting in the spray on purpose, others just had to get to the other side and then there was one guy who actually braved (stupidly) the crashing waves, giant logs and freezing cold and went for a brief swim.

I got a TON of photos of these amazing waves breaking over the sea wall on Dallas Road yesterday. For the most part the weather was just windy and cold. We did get a big rain dump for about 20 minutes or so but had popped into the Breakwater Cafe for a bit of lunch just before it started. Perfect timing!
