A Lake Condo Project

Although I do bring projects to work on while I am in Sicamous for the summer, for the most part they do not get done. I do have some legitimate excuses, “company” can be used as fair justification. My back is out is another real case for not sewing or painting or decorating. I have others up my sleeve too, just in case… “I’d rather be boating” or “I have to go to the Vernon Farmer’s Market” or “I need a nap”.

Anyway, even though this year has been truly busy with company, I still managed to squeak out one project that I have put off for a while. You know what they say about busy people.

This turned out to be super cute. It is a dresser in the guest bedroom. I was going to rename the room to The Birder’s Room or even at one time The Owl’s Nest, but while I was doing this stenciling project I changed it to The Chickadee Wing. I think it’s obvious why I came up with this name.

I ordered the stencil on Amazon last summer but didn’t get around to this until this year.
The wall side – harder to get at and I didn’t feel like moving the dresser

And some close ups of the dresser drawers. I am aware that the edges didn’t come out perfectly sharp

I’m ok with that 🙂

One of the reasons I had considered going with The Owl’s Nest – a gift from a dear friend
AND I have quite a few pictures of owls that could go on the walls. Owls can look a bit scary though
so this is, in part, why I didn’t go in that direction.

Would you like a sleep over in the Chickadee Wing? The name isn’t official yet so if you have any other names that you think might be nice do let me know!

  1. The Chickadee Wing is the perfect name! The stencils are even more charming in person. I might have to steal the idea sometime!

  2. Sounds lovely!! The stencils are really cute. I never seem to get projects done here at the lake in the summer and then too much “holidaying” going on in the winter. Now with Covid there may be more time as we have cancelled all of our upcoming trips. We’re planning on a tour of Saskatchewan in the motorhome in the Fall if the weather holds out. Colleen

    1. Thanks Colleen. We have cancelled all ours as well. I will spend some time with my kids in the fall but that’s all I have planned for the moment.
