Finding Beauty Week 3

This week covered much the same as the past two weeks… Quiet, Clean, Uncluttered, Simple images but introduced the concept of Contrast to highlight the beauty we are attempting to capture. Ah! And finally, things that go back to my natural thought processes… Colour, Texture, Shape, Lines, etc, etc

Although we were looking at them in a bit different way. We were instructed to contain or minimalize those elements to bring out the quietness. Sometimes allover pattern will reduce the contrast and quiet the image. Get closer, eliminate clutter and iterate – okay, I’ll be honest, I was struggling a bit by this point.

Following are my submissions for the week but I didn’t really think I was doing anything different and started to worry that I was missing something. Britt, once again, is very kind in her critiques (thankfully)!

  1. 1 and 3 are very successful, and appear to meet your objective. I like the berry in 2. There is a bit of visual clutter in the bottom left corner of 2 that detract from the strength of the berry and its snow crystals. Sometimes we have limited perspectives avaialble to us. An insturctor of mine always encouraged us to identify what was interesting, and to then only include those elements which support those interests. A Supportive Cheers
