Palms in my Palm

I have been slow on taking up any of my photography group’s weekly challenges but decided that the Lens Ball sounded fun and doable as I had already been thinking of this little project, Palms in my Palm. So, with a little preamble of using a lens ball here are some that worked out well.

First, using a lens ball can be tricky in full sun (recall when you were a kid and either you or a friend used a magnifying glass on an ant on the sidewalk?). You really need to have something to block the sun onto your hand or, if you are laying it anywhere near dry vegetation, because you will burn yourself or start a grass or forest fire.

Second, everything is upside down (remember learning about light refraction?). Some people turn their image so that it appears rightside up. I did it once here, but so I was staying with my theme I left the rest with my palm facing up.

Third, I was going to name all the different palm trees for you but my app didn’t like the lens ball images and wouldn’t identify. Such is life…. maybe I’ll just go with my phone tomorrow and do the identifications.

Upside Down / Rightside Up – you pick…
Note t self: make sure ball is place so scuff is not visible and always clean finger prints before each shot!! Do you recall my cautionary note about the sun? I learned that lesson first time I used the ball and dropped it… on a rock!
Another view of Marylin

That’s pretty much it for Project: Palms in my Palm in Palm Springs. I may need to think on this a bit and do a retake.
