A Robin Came Bobbin

So clever, if I do say so myself… mixing sewing with birding. Really, I’m laughing…. And that, my friends is what quarantine followed by self-isolation does to a person. We laugh at our own stupid jokes!

So I went for a short walk today around the neighbourhood. I was looking for birds, listening to my ‘Zombies, Run!’ app and some music, getting fresh air and exercise – all while social distancing. At the end of my walk I was a bit sad that I hadn’t seen any birds at all. And then I came around the corner into my cul de sac!

Wow! There must have been about 10 robins across the street and in my neighbour’s trees. They were singing up a storm so probably in everyone’s back yards as well. I ran into the house, checked my feeders… nothing (don’t those birds know I have food in my trees?). Anyway, I grabbed my camera and shot off about 153 (well not ‘about’, Exactly, LOL) photos.

Hope you enjoy these beautiful sweet birds, our precursor to spring! And those in Calgary, please try to ignore the snow from today, yesterday and what is coming – focus on the robins!!

These were the first guys I noticed before I got my camera. There were about 5 of them poking around in the grass here. There must be something very yummy down there!
I’m not sure why this and another had such light red coloured breast, maybe because they were puffed up. But their other feathers were light brown as well. I haven’t looked this up yet so maybe someone can save me the trouble??
I have no idea what this fellow was doing with his wings but he just kept lifting them up half way and then drooping them down like this. Doing bird stuff I guess.
Another of the light coloured robins.
They like to get up high and show off to their friends and the paparazzi
Some like to get very high!
